Bank Exams In India

There are many entrance level and aptitudes exams  taken by different banks for recruitment of personnel for different posts in banking sectors like PO/Clericals  which are held by different banks or institutes for various positions from Regional Rural Banks to Private banks.

IBPS Common Written Exam for Probationary Officer:

A Common Written Examination  is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) as  for selection of candidate for  the posts of Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee  in the Public Sector Banks. This system of Common Examination for recruitment of Probationary Officers/ Management Trainees has been approved by participation of 22 Public Sector Banks and the Managing Committee of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA)  with Government of India. IBPS will make arrangements for the online examination then declare result of online examination and inform the shortlisted candidates about the interview. Interviews will be conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each state/ UT with the help of IBPS.

State Bank of India Probationary Officer:

State Bank of India conducts examination for  the post of Probationary Officers in the bank. The written exams for PO by STATE BANK OF INDIA (SBI) include   a written examination which is a part of Phase-I  for the selection process for the recruitments of candidates for Probationary Officers. Further the exam is divided into two sections  section 1 & section 2. Section 1  of the exam will consist of Objective Tests whereas;  section B  will consist of a Descriptive Paper.

IBPS Common Written Exam for Clerical Recruitment for PSUs:

Common Written Examination (CWE Clerk-IIV) is   for selection of candidate  for Clerical cadre posts  in the Public Sector Banks which is conducted online by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)  in November/ December. Candidates who appear and are shortlisted in the examination for the next phase,  will  be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organizations and conducted  by IBPS. Depending on the State/UT wise available vacancies in Participating organizations, candidates selected will be allotted to one of the Participating Organizations.

State Bank of India Clerical Recruitment:

State Bank of India conducts its separate examination for the recruitment of  only Indian citizens for appointment in the Clerical Cadre posts in its different branches. Candidates  must give online examination  by applying online through  Bank’s  site www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the written test and interview taken together. The written test will be of Objective type consisting of General English,  General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Marketing and Financial  Aptitude/Computer Knowledge.

Common Written Exam for Regional Rural Banks:

Regional Rural Banks has a  Common Written Examination (CWE) , is  conducted for recruitment of Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Office Assistants (Multipurpose) in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). The next Common Written Examination for RRBs (RRBs CWE-III) is conducted for the  recruitment of Group “A”-Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group “B”-Office Assistants (Multipurpose) is conducted online by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

Common Written Exam for Specialist Officer:

A Common Written Examination (CWE) is conducted for the recruitment of Specialist Officers (SO) in Public Sector Banks coordinated by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). There are different post requirements and different Scales which  totally depend  upon the vacancies at the moment. Example – Marketing Officer, Law officer, HR Officer, IT Officer, etc. So the eligibility will vary on the post and the scale of the required officer.

Private Banks:

Most of the private banks  have  their own aptitude tests for candidates. For Example ICICI Bank conducts its own full time residential training programme,  which is  conducted at ICICI  Manipal  Academy campus, Bangalore.  Candidates joining the Probationary Officer Training Programme will be then  enrolled for MBA in Banking and Finance with Manipal University, an UGC recognized University.
