Bank PO Exam Syllabus

Candidates looking for a job as a Bank PO should know that the opportunity this year is more as both IBPS and SBI have increased the total number of vacancies for this year’s recruitment process for this post. Bank PO Exams are held in three phase i.e Preliminary exam, Mains Exam, and Common Interview. Candidates qualifying the Preliminary Exam will appear in mains Exam. The candidates clearing the Mains Exam will be called for the Interview.

Preliminary Exam

It is the first stage for IBPS PO and SBI PO recruitment process. The candidates should focus towards this stage because it is very important as only those who will be able to get through with the cutoff of this stage are eligible for Mains Examination. Prelims Exam is conducted online in which objective type questions asked. The total time duration of the exam is 1 hour and it covers the following sections:

  • Reasoning Ability
  • English Language
  • Quantitative Aptitude

Reasoning Ability

The Reasoning Ability section in Bank PO examination consists of 35 questions, which test the ability of the candidate on various parameters like calculation, accuracy, and speed of responding in a situation that requires logical reasoning.

The candidates are supposed to finish these 35 questions in just 20 minutes. For doing this candidate are recommended to thoroughly go through the syllabus and practice mock tests and previous years question paper. The topics that cover this section of Reasoning Ability are listed below.

Quantitative Aptitude

The Quantitative Aptitude section is designed to test the mathematical ability of the candidate. There are 35 questions in this section with an allotted time of 25 minutes so the candidates should focus on this section entirely. Mains Exam

Once the candidate has cleared the Preliminary Exam then the shortlisted candidates are called for the Mains exam. For the shortlisted candidates clearing this phase to become easy as the majority of the subject that are covered in the Prelims are also forming 60% of the Mains syllabus.

The only difference candidates face in the transition from Preliminary Exam and the Mains exam is the addition of 2 more subjects with an extended time of 1 hours and 40 minutes. The Mains Exam is divided into 4 sections.

  • English Language
  • Reasoning Ability & Computer Awareness
  • Computer Awareness   
  • General Awareness

For the section that was covered in the Preliminary Exam, the topics covered are same but the difficulty level should be expected to be more.

Computer Awareness

The section Computer Awareness consists of 60 questions. Candidates should have a basic knowledge of computer science. Questions are comparatively easier to this section and candidates preparing for Bank Po exam have a good chance to boost their score in this section.
