The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 was conducted in 138 cities across the country.Of the 2.5 lakh aspirants who registered for the exam, more than 1.95 lakh candidates took the computer-based test convened by IIM Bangalore this year.

The duration of the examination was 180 minutes. There were no changes in the number of questions from last year; CAT 2016 had three sections

● Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension with 34 questions

● Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning had 32 questions

● Quantitative Ability had 34 questions

Each candidate was given 60 minutes to solve each section.

Although the convener of CAT 2016, Rajendra K Bandi says that the test was conducted smoothly, students and experts state that it was not particularly “glitch-free.” Some candidates claim that three questions in the quantitative ability (QA) section showed ‘Pi’ symbol on their computer screens instead of what should have ideally been a ‘square root.’

There has been no official announcement of the CAT 2016 result date yet, although they should be released tentatively by the second week of January 2017. Students will have to login with the User ID and password to download their scorecard from the official website (www.iimcat.ac.in).
