CAT 2016 Analysis
CAT 2016, the much-awaited exam was conducted on December 4, 2016. The IIM aspirants have rated the difficulty level of CAT exam to be moderate, with
- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning section being the trickiest among all three
- Quantitative Ability (QA) section was also of high difficulty level
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section was easy to moderate.
CAT 2016 Analysis from Byju’s Experts
Common Admission Test 2016 consisted of 100 questions. 25 questions were non-MCQ’s or TITA (Type In The Answer) questions which did not have negative marking. Thus a candidate could attempt these questions without the fear of losing marks.
CAT 2016 – Sectional Analysis
- Verbal & Reading Comprehension
34 questions were asked in this section. 9 questions were from Reading Comprehension with five passages, which were lengthy. The section was vocabulary intensive and was a blend of direct and inferential type. Most of the Verbal Ability questions were mostly non-MCQ or TITA type. The topics from which the questions appeared were Fill in the Blanks, Para Jumbles, Sentence Correction, Out of Context and Para Summary.

- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning
DI & LR was the trickiest among the three sections. The number of questions in this section were lesser compared to the other two. Hence, it consumed more time as calculation was intensive. The Data Interpretation questions were from categories like Tables, Bar Graph, Charts and Line Graph whereas Logical Reasoning questions were in the form of caselets.

- Quantitative Ability
Quantitative Ability was of moderate – tough difficulty level. Relatively, the non-MCQs were lesser in this section.
According to the CAT exam takers, there were wrong questions in the section. A question on Time & Distance and a question on Progressions were wrong. If the IIM recognizes these questions as an error, hen these questions they may be ignored while marking.

CAT 2016 – Expected Cut-off
Common Aptitude Test 2016 was trickier even though the difficulty level was moderate. The expected cut off marks would be 165.
CAT 2016 – Results
The results of Common Admission Test is expected to be announced in the 2nd week of January 2016.
