India Rankings 2017
  • The India Rankings 2017for the Educational Institutions were released
  • This is the second such edition of India Rankings. A total of 2995 institutions have participated in the process
  • It has ranked institutions in the disciplines/categories mentioned above, and have also provided a common overall rank across all disciplines for those institutes which either have more than 1000 enrolled students, or which are centrally funded

The ranks are as follows

  • Overall – IISC Bangalore
  • Engineering – IIT Madras
  • Management – IIM Ahmedabad
  • University – IISC Bangalore
  • College – Miranda House, New Delhi
  • Pharmacy – Jamia Hamdard New Delhi

About National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)

  • NIRF was launched for educational institutions was launched to meet a felt need for a framework that would enable parents, students, teachers, educational institutions and other stakeholders to rank institutions on the basis of a set of objective parameters and a transparent process
  • Developed by a team of experts in education and heads of institutions, the portal and the framework is presently available for engineering and management institutions
  • Soon, methodologies, parameters and process for ranking universities along with architecture and planning institutions would also be available online

The parameters are under the five broad heads

  • Teaching learning and resources (30%)
  • Research, consulting and collaborative performance (30%)
  • Graduation outcomes (15%)
  • Outreach and inclusivity (15%)
  • Perception (10%)
