1. 1ST  NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP ON DMF/ PMKKKY

CONTEXT:
Ministry of Mines organized the 1st National level workshop on District Mineral Foundation (DMF)/ Pradhan Mantri Khetriya Khanij Kalyan Yojna in New Delhi.

OBJECTIVE:
 The main objective of the workshop was to discuss various issues to expedite implementation of DMF and developing strategies to address the challenges in DMF implementation, audit and reconciliation, improving PMKKKY guidelines, criteria for identification of affected people and areas, etc.

DETAILS:
The workshop on DMF/ PMKKKY, first of its kind, will go a long way in strengthening the efforts of the Ministry in enabling the mining sector to contribute its fullest to foster socio- economic development of mining affected areas and also contribute in the growth of national economy. These efforts will help the central government to further improve policy environment to promote best practices across all regions.

WHAT IS DMF?
District Mineral Foundation (DMF) is a trust set up as a non-profit body, in those districts affected by the mining works, to work for the interest and benefit of persons and areas affected by mining related operations. It is funded through the contributions from miners.

ABOUT PMKKKY:
The Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) is a programme meant to provide for the welfare of areas and people affected by mining related operations, using the funds generated by District Mineral Foundations (DMFs).


2. NATIONAL CONCLAVE FOR ELECTED WOMEN REPRESENTATIVES (EWRS)

CONTEXT:

Recently National Conclave for Elected Women Representatives (EWRs) in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) jointly organized by Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), UN Women and National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), was concluded in New Delhi.

AIM:
Conclave focused on the enablement of rural women leaders to fully and effectively participate in decision making and, in the development, and use of critical knowledge, tools and technologies for strengthening gender-responsive local governance.

DETAILS:
During the various session of the conclave, important topics like Gender Analysis and Mainstreaming, Gender Budgeting, Capacity Building of EWRs, Livelihood generation for rural women for their economic development and SHG-PRI Convergence were discussed by the resource persons.
