Women Science Congress 

  • It was inaugurated by Governor of West Bengal Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi at Imphal.
  • It is a 7th edition of WSC and the first Women Science Congress was held in 2012.
  • 7th Women Science Congress is held with the ongoing 105th session of Indian Science Congress.
  • The theme of this year’s edition of ISC is “Reaching the Unreached through Science and Technology.”
  • Three Nobel Laureates Viz., Dalai Lama, prof. Muhammad Yunus and Prof. Hiroshi Amano will deliver speeches.
  • North East is hosting the Indian Science Congress for the second time.
  • Earlier, Shillong had hosted the Indian Science Congress.

 

Informal World Trade Organisation Ministerial Meeting

  • This informal World Trade Organisation (WTO) ministerial meeting is being held in New Delhi.
  • The informal meeting of ministers will provide an opportunity to engage in free and frank discussions with the hope that it will lead to political guidance on some major issues.
  • This is being held against the backdrop of failure at the Eleventh Ministerial Conference (MC 11) that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
  • It is hoped that the New Delhi meeting will provide an opportunity for ministers to explore in greater detail the options on different issues for re-invigorating the WTO.

 

War Memorial Boys and Girls Hostel

  • War Memorial Boys and Girls Hostel is situated at village DandaLakhond, Dehradun.
  • Hostel will benefit wards of large number of Martyrs, Veer Naris, serving soldiers and ex-servicemen.
  • The Garhwal Rifles War Memorial Boys and Girls Hostel at Lansdowne exist since 1980. With changing times, to give level playing platform to children of all ranks of the regiment in terms of modern education and all round development, the need was felt to shift the hostel to Dehradun.
  • The hostel has been constructed on 4.18 acres land donated by Uttrakhand State Government in 2011.
