JEE Main 2020 Admission Criteria Relaxed by CSAB

JEE Main 2020 Admission Criteria

Central Seat Allocation Board, (CSAB) has just announced they are relaxing the eligibility criteria for granting admissions to NITs and CFTIs. As per the announcement, students who qualify JEE Main 2020 will now only require a passing certificate in Class XII examination for seeking admission in these technical institutions. Admission will be granted irrespective of the marks obtained in the board exam.

This decision comes just a few days after the HRD minister’s announcement of the relaxation of admission criterion for the IITs. The same rules will be applied for candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2020 as well.

The prime reason that the new changes have been introduced is due to the partial cancellation of exams by various boards and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on 23rd July announced, “due to prevailing circumstances, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs and other CFTIs.”

As per the eligibility criteria that was set earlier, students needed to secure a minimum of 75% marks in XII Board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations.

Meanwhile, the second stage of JEE Main 2020 examination is scheduled to be held from September 1 to 6 while JEE Advanced is scheduled to be held on September 27.
