Generally, point mutation occurs during the DNA replication and alters the structure of a gene. This type of mutation brings changes in the structure of a gene.

Frameshift mutations – It is a genetic mutation which is involved in alternating the open reading frame of a gene, either by insertions or deletions of base pairs into the nucleotide sequence of a gene shift. Frameshift mutations include alterations of several nucleotides. This type of mutation brings changes in the number of nucleotides.
