The Bishop Cotton school is one of the oldest residential schools in the Asian continent and is known for its tremendous track record for over a hundred and fifty years.It is affiliated to the CBSE Board. The first Bishop Cotton School was established in Shimla in the year 1859 by Bishop George Edward Lynch Cotton, the then Bishop of Calcutta. It is regularly ranked among the top residential boys’ school in the country by media houses such as Outlook and World Education Magazine, and has produced a plethora of famous and influential personalities from all walks of life.

Bishop Cotton was inspired by Thomas Arnold, the pioneer of the British Public School system. The school began its operation on 15th March, 1863 and the first student was enrolled on 16th March, 1863.
Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bangalore
Later on, Bishop Cotton School for Boys and Bishop Cotton School for Girls were opened in Bangalore as an extension of the commitment to provide quality education in colonial India. The Bangalore schools established in 1865 and are operative to this day. These schools provide facilities for both boarders and day-scholar students, unlike the Shimla school which only has provisions for boarders.
