As mentioned, there’s only one school in Kodaikanal, which has CBSE affiliation, that is – Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Gandhi Vidyashram. It is a Co-Educational, Private English medium school. Founded by Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi, the institution is headed by Smt P. Sridevi Mohan, M.Sc (Maths)., M.Ed., P.G.D.C.A., P.G.D.S.L.M., Dip. Spl. Edu (U.S.A).
CBSE curriculum is set by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). CBSE conducts two major exams – All India Secondary School Examination, AISSE (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination, AISSCE (Class XII). All the competitive entrance exams like IIT-JEE, AIEEE and AIPMT set their questions based on CBSE syllabus. Not only all national entrance examinations are conducted as per this syllabus, but also all important administrative examinations like UPSC – IAS, IFS exams follow this syllabus. This is the reason why CBSE board is the most preferred board in the country.
CBSE operates a chain of central schools called Kendriya Vidyalaya across India. Some private schools also cater CBSE board so that students can cope up with all important exams and curriculums at a national level. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Gandhi Vidyashram is one such institution.
