The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was founded in the year 1962, November to provide a stable curriculum to the children of the defense personnel. It was created for the wards of those who are serving the nation in army, airforce or navy. There are around 1067 functional Kendriya Vidyalayas spread across India and abroad. Kendriya Vidyalaya will be found also in abroad locations like Tehran, Kathmandu and Moscow. The education should be accessible and affordable to all the young professional who comes in the age bracket of 14-18.
Around 1060011 students are present in the rolls of the whole schools (as survey done on 31st November 2010.) To get an admission in one of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, the aspirants need to pass an entrance test and there is reservation for the civilian students as well.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya schools started with collaboration with Central Board of Secondary Education, National Council of Educational Research and Training etc. The sole purpose for the collaboration if the promote innovation in the curriculum set. To provide, endow, maintain, control and manage the schools meant for the children of transferable employees of Government of India and others including who are settled in underdeveloped and remote areas in the country.
