A railway station is where trains stop, load and unload goods and passengers. We can also call it a small place where people wait for their respective trains for arrival or departure. A railway station also has small shops, vendors, waiting rooms, ticket counters, etc. When we think of a railway station, the first things that come to our mind are the baggage carriers, the whistling of train engines, chaos, announcements, etc.

A passenger’s journey starts from a railway station and ends at another railway station. There are many tracks which are the routes of different trains. The station is made at a bit of elevation compared to the tracks.

Advantages

  • Privatising the railways will bring modernisation to the infrastructure, its orientation and other services related to railway facilities.
  • It will bring better provisions for maintaining cleanliness in the station.
  • The railway stations will be more secure, and passengers will get extra facilities and security.
  • Infrastructure improvement will be helpful for the trains to depart or arrive on time.

Disadvantages

  • After privatisation, government jobs will no longer exist because private companies want to earn more money by employing less people.
  • Railway ticket fares could increase, which will affect the poor and ordinary man.
  • Special provisions like concessions given to senior citizens and students might be discontinued.
