NCERT Syllabus to be Cut Down by Half from the Next Academic Session

The Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that the current NCERT syllabus will be cut down by half from the 2019 academic session. The news came as a big relief to the school students as it will offer them time to devote to other activities other than academics. The HRD Minister also added that the current syllabus is more than that of B.Com and BS courses, therefore it is important to reduce the NCERT syllabus by half so that students can get extra time for other activities.

The HRD Minister told this during an interview with the Rajya Sabha TV. He said that the students should be given full freedom and asked NCERT to cut down the syllabus by half from the next academic session. The HRD minister also said that without a conduction of an exam, there is no target and no competition. He said that there must be an element of healthy competition for good outcomes.

Minister Prakash Javadekar added that the poor quality of mentors and teachers is one of the major concerns because it is resulting in a poor learning outcome. He said that the main task of teachers should be to assess the weakness and strengths of students and guide them accordingly.

However, the new education policy will be submitted at the end of March after getting the approval from the Parliament of India.
