This is a good news for the institutes who are trying hard to achieve the diversity factor in class. Women now are keen on exploring management careers and taking their chances through the CAT exam. A rise on the female application has been seen since the past few years and the trends are only increasing. The total female registration for the year 2014 was 27%, which increased to 31.63% in the year 2015. And this year it is 33%.
The influx of engineering students has called the need to promote gender diversity. Change in selection criteria in the top IIMs also indicates the fact that they are welcoming female students in the class. 1 female aspirant in every 16 students is getting in high percentile rank since the last few years. Hence, working on that strategy was indeed welcome to promote gender diversity.
Prof. Bandi, CAT 2016 convener also announced that the question content may have a slight change this year. CAT 2015 also saw the increase in the number of sections and change in the pattern of the examination.
Candidates can look at the following table and the graph that follows the trends:
|Year||Number of Total Applicants||Number of Female Applicants||Percentage of Female Candidate|
