IIMs Cut-offs for CAT Candidates

One of the requirements for admission to India’s top MBA programmes is to meet the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) cut-off marks. The IIMs modify their CAT cut-offs slightly depending on various factors every year. MBA aspirants are frequently concerned about their options after passing the CAT. The CAT Exam is only the first leg in their management journey. The Group discussion, Written Aptitude Test and Personal Interview are the main procedures. The IIM CAT cut-offs, which are published individually on each IIM’s website, form the foundation of the admissions screening procedure. Following the release of the CAT exam results, the IIM selection criteria and admission process are made public, including the cut-off, admissions parameters, percentile rate, and eligibility conditions, among other things.

Admission to the 20 IIMs is not easy because the admissions process is multi-layered. The IIM cut-offs also differ across each institution. Because the CAT 2022 Exam has not yet been held, the cut-offs will be notified after the exam results are released. Only those who have scored at or above the minimum cut-off percentile in the CAT exam established by the institutes are invited to a group discussion WAT/PI. Each year, as soon as the CAT answer key is released, test takers begin calculating their odds of being accepted into one of the IIMs’ MBA programmes in their desired management colleges.

IIM Cut-offs, Admission and Selection Process

The IIMs will notify the candidates who have been shortlisted for the Written Aptitude Test and Personal Interview through email/call. IIMs have different criteria for shortlisting candidates. A Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interviews are regularly part of the procedure (PI). Certain IIMs also refer to Class 10 and 12 results as well as work experience. A number of factors affect the IIMs Percentile determination, which includes the following:

Difficulty level – If the exam is challenging, the year’s qualifying percentile will be reduced. The number of seats given by the institution can fluctuate from year to year as a result of the examination batch’s significantly lower results.

Seats offered by the respective IIM: Any increase or reduction in the number of available seats will have a direct impact on the IIM cut-off percentage.

CAT exam takers: Number of students who take the CAT exam – The final cut-off percentage for IIMs is based on the number of students who take the CAT exam.

Documentation Requirement

If the shortlisted student has been called for, they will need to show their original documentation of the following:

  • Marksheet and degree certificates
  • Reservation category requirements
  • Final year of graduation certificate
