# GMAT Quant Arithmetic Syllabus

GMAT Quant section comprises questions which involve arithmetic to certain extent. This test section follows an algorithm with every question the difficulty level increases. Here the candidates will be instructed to find the value of  a variable and often incorporate topics like Algebra, Geometry or Proportion. Therefore, it deals with positive or negative numbers.  The main aim of the section is evaluate your critical thinking for quick problem solving through calculating. The   section rewards the test takers who have answered the questions correctly. Some major topics are following –

$\frac{x!}{(x-1)!} = \frac{x(x-1)(x-2)…3(2)(1)}{(x-1)(x-2)…3(2)(1)} = x$

Permutations

$_{n}P_{k} = \frac{n!}{(n-k)!}$

Where, n = the number of objects to choose from and k = the number of objects selected

Combinations

$_{n}C_{k} = \frac{n!}{(n-k)!k!}$

Where, n = the number of objects to choose from and k = the number of objects selected
