Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIMA) was incorporated on 11, December 1961. Eligibility Criteria for Domestic Students:
In order to be eligible for these full-time residential programmes every applicant should meet these eligibility criteria:
- Candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks
- There is relaxation for Scheduled caste, differently abled candidates and Scheduled Tribes upto 45% marks in Bachelor courses
- In case of no bachelor’s degree, he/she should have cleared an equivalent course with 50% marks along with CAT score
- Those who have appeared for the final year exam and awaiting for results can also appear
Eligibility Criteria for Overseas Indian Students:
For Overseas Indian students the eligibility criteria are the same as above mentioned; instead of CAT score, GMAT scores are valid. Remember, IIM-A accepts GMAT score up to two years from the current admission cycle process which has commenced, for e.g. a student is eligible to submit the GMAT score taken in the year 2015 till the academic year 2017-2018 and not beyond that.
Admissions Procedure for Various programs:
As you can see from the above list the eligibility criteria varies for both Indian and overseas candidates. The process of admissions also varies for each course which you would like to pursue at IIM- Ahmedabad.
For the PGP program there are 2 stages which each candidate has to go through to get shortlisted for this programme. The initial stage is appearing for the CAT or the GMAT exam. Once the candidates have obtained the necessary composite scores (CS) and they also have good academic scores in their 10th, 12th and graduation then they are called for an Academic Writing Test which is followed up by a Personal Interview (PI). The final selection is then done based on your performances in each of the above sections – CS, PI and the Writing Test.
For the PGP- FABM program you will once again have to appear for the CAT or the GMAT exam and once you have obtained the necessary cutoffs you will be shortlisted for a Group Discussion session followed by a Personal Interview.
For the PGPX program, you will need to have attempted the GMAT exam. Your score from the GMAT exam along with the remaining parts of your application (SOP, LOR and other supporting documents) will be scrutinized by the admissions committee before shortlisting the eligible candidates. These selected candidates must then submit their essays and appear for a Personal Interview. The final list of candidates selected will be posted after the interview sessions.
The fee includes other charges apart from tuition fees, which are Library, Books, IT and Infrastructure, study materials, student welfare, Medical, orientation, admission, placement and even hostel accommodation.

Diversity at IIM- Ahmedabad:
The students who study at IIM- A are from a wide variety of backgrounds and will possess various scholastic achievements.
