The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) are the five Indian security forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) is a uniform nomenclature of these five forces. They are organized on the police lines. The CAPFs are headed by the Indian Police Service Officers and have their own cadre of officers and hence have been since many years, demanding improvement in their promotional prospects.
