Civil Services (IAS) Prelims 2017: UPSC Online Notification would be made available from February 22 at upsc.gov.in

According to the UPSC Exam Calendar/schedule released last year (2016) February by the commission in their online notification, the UPSC Civil Services Exam would be held on June 18, 2017, and the application forms for the same would be made available from Feb 22, 2017, till March 17, 2017.

Accordingly, the UPSC Official Notification for Civil Services (IAS) Prelims 2017 would be released on February 22, which would be made available on the official website (www.upsc.gov.in) The UPSC conducts various examinations every year in order to fill various posts in the government of India and Civil Services Examination is one among the other exams under which various prestigious Central ‘A’ and ‘B’ services like Indian Administration Services, Indian Police Services; Indian Foreign Services and others come and also successful civil services exam candidates are recruited for the same.

The UPSC 2017 Civil Services Prelims Exam is scheduled to be held on June 18th of this and the date of filling the forms would be from 22nd February 2017 till March 17, 2017 (which would be the last date). 

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the civil services exam every year and generally, the exam is held between May and August. In the past three years, the UPSC CSE (Prelims) was held in the month of August and after a gap of three years, the examination is held on 18th June of this year.

About Civil Services Examination

The civil services examination is conducted every year for which lakhs of candidates apply and the exam consists of three stages as given below:

Stage 1: Preliminary

                 Two Papers: Paper I (General Studies) & Paper-II (General Studies/CSAT)

                 Duration: Two hours for each paper

 Marks:  200 Marks for each

                Question Paper Language: English/Hindi

 

Stage 2: Main (Written Exam with descriptive answers)

                9 Papers: GS Paper I, II, III, IV; Compulsory Indian Language; English; Essay Paper; Optional Paper I and Paper II

Marks: GS I, II, III, IV; Essay; Optional Paper I & 2– 250 mark each; Compulsory           Indian Language and English 300 Marks each

Question Paper Language: English/Hindi

 

Stage 3: Personality Test/Interview (face to face discussion with the UPSC Board)

              Duration: 45 minutes – 1hr (approximately)

               Marks: 275
