With the aim of addressing the women related issues with respect to a gap in the career that many women face due to social compulsions like taking care of old parents, marriage, pregnancy and for the education of children DISHA programme has been launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for ensuring focused efforts are made for facilitating the re-entry of such women into the field of mainstream science.
The Department of Science and technology has also restructured programmes for women under the Knowledge Involvement in Research Advancement through Nurturing (KIRAN) programme. A component of KIRAN, Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence (CURIE) has been formulated by developing state-of-art infrastructure for helping women in enhancing their knowledge and skills in Science and Technology so that they have the opportunity to build a fulfilling career in the field of S&T while encouraging research culture in those institutions.
