The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy plans to launch an Integrated Bio Energy Mission with an estimated expend of Rs. 10,000 crore from 2017-18 to 2021-22. The Integrated Bio Energy Mission might contribute to achieve greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals as required per the Nationally Determined Contributions agreed at the COP 21 in Paris. Such a task might be attained through progressive blending/substitution of fossil fuels like coal, petrol, diesel, natural gas and LPG with biomass pellets, bioethanol, biodiesel, biomethane and similar green fuels simultaneously for electrical and non-electrical production.
