Different commissions and their recommendations are very important for the UPSC civil services exam. It is an important aspect of the polity syllabus for the IAS exam.

These commissions are usually for a shorter term and have a specific task or objective. Once the task is completed, the commission is dissolved.

To look into the issues of linguistic and religious minorities in India.

To investigate the cause of the 1992 Bombay riots.

To probe the assassination of Indira Gandhi.

Phukan Commission
