Make in India + Defence procurement
Make in India: Make in India is an initiative launched by the Narendra Modi-led Indian government on September 25, 2014. The program aims to encourage national companies and multinational companies to manufacture products in India. The chief objectives behind this campaign is the creation of jobs and also skills enrichment in 25 sectors of the Indian economy. Other goals of the program are ensuring high quality standards and diminishing the adverse impact on the environment. Through the ‘Make in India’ campaign the government wants to attract investment in capital and technology in India.
Defence procurement: It deals with a country’s bureaucratic management and procurement process regarding technological investments, programs and product support required to achieve its national security strategies and provide support to the military. The object of a country’s defence procurement is to secure products that fulfil specific needs of the armed forces and offer a determinate enhancement to mission capability at a reasonable price.
