On Saturday, President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the first phase of the Muziris Heritage Project at the International Research and Convention Centre, KKTM College, Kodungalloor.
The President also said that the Muziris Project is the first green project of the Kerala Government and the largest conservation project in the country and it will boast as a area of heritage, conservation and tourism.
He also added that the spice trade and ancient ports in the State have given rise to many islands of heritage and history along with the distinct tourist experiences being the the best heritage tourism for global travelers.
He also noted that the traditions of various religions are shared in the State like the Cheraman Mosque has an oil lamp and the Muziris heritage Project seems to bring alive this wonderful various cultural influences in a holistic way.
The Muziris project would be a new destination and act as a gateway to Indian and foreign tourists along with bringing economic benefits to the people in the region also knowledge and enjoyment for the visitors.
A website for Muziris Heritage Project was also instigated by the President.
