Senna spectabilis is a plant species belonging to the legume family (Leguminosae/ Fabaceae). They belong to the subfamily Caesalpinioideae (peacock flower). Its common names are Spectacular Cassia, calceolaria shower, mhomba, American cassia, pisabed, mwenu, popcorn bush, golden wonder tree, yellow flower, etc. It was earlier called Cassia spectabilis. It is originally a native of tropical America. It is also found in Malaysia, southern USA, eastern and southern Africa and Puerto Rico. The Senna spectabilis can be described as a small and rounded deciduous tree with a spreading crown. Its flowers are generally yellow and the tree is used chiefly for ornamental purposes.
