What is the Full form of TOEFL?
The full form of TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. TOEFL is a standard test to assess the potential of non-native English speakers who plan to study in English-speaking universities to understand English. Most technical and professional English-speaking organizations accept the exam. TOEFL is one of the two leading English language tests in the world & IELTS is the other one.
TOEFL is an ETS (Educational Testing Service) brand, a private non-profit company developing and conducting examinations. ETS provides an official status report sent to organizations separately and valid for two years after the exam.
Eligibility criteria for TOEFL
ETS lays down no specific eligibility criteria for taking the TOEFL test. However, candidates must take the TOEFL test if the institutions in English-speaking countries mandate TOEFL scores in their admission process. Also, the applicants of TOEFL must have a valid passport, and they need to carry the original copy of it while attending the exam.
Note:Â The passport should be valid at the time of registration and during the examination.
TOEFL Examination pattern
TOEFL is undertaken about 50 times every year. It permits you to participate in the examination as many times as you like, but between the previous and present tests, there should be a break of 12 days. The test includes four parts, as explained below.
- Reading
- Listening
- Speaking
- Writing
When the applicant scores are eligible, he will receive a mail, approximately ten days after the test. The applicant can also sign in to the TOEFL Registration website to view the results. Printed score reports are released via mail about 13 days after the exam date.
