What is the full form of IRTF?
The Full Form of IRTF is the Internet Research Task Force.
Long term issues of internet or web research are discussed in IRTF. It develops research groups to explore the evolution of web technology, internet protocols, applications and more. The IRTF Chair, in consultation with the web Research Steering Group (IRSG), will be in charge here. Internet Research Task Force is made up of a wide range of focused Research Groups that are long-term. These Research Groups also have stable future membership required to market research collaboration and teamwork in exploring the issues related to research.
Individual contributors participate in this as an alternative to the representatives of the organisation. IRTF Chair, in consultation with the net Research Steering Group (IRSG), will control the IRTF. The IRSG membership also constitutes the IRTF Chair, the chairs of the numerous Research Groups, and other individuals from the research community selected by the IRTF Chair.
Functions of IRTF
- Document undergoes intensive technical and editorial review
- Post the review documents are published
- IRSG is in charge of approving the documents for publication
- IESG reviews the document to ensure that the current or expected standardisation activities are free from all issues and conflicts
- The IRTF constitutes a restriction of the travel grants to support the attendance of scholars
- The RFC editor will then publish the document
- RFC 2014 describes the IRTF research group guidelines and procedures extensively
- RFC 5743 defines procedures for publishing documents on the IRTF RFC stream
- RFC 4844 defines the concept of RFC streams
