ICAR Exam Pattern for JRF

• The total duration of the exam is 150 minutes. The blind or visually challenged candidates will get extra 50 minutes to finish the exam papers.
• The exam is conducted online in CBT mode
• As per the official ICAR JRF Exam Pattern, the subjects covered in this exam are Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. You have to attempt only 3 subjects as per your selected subjects.
• A total of 150 questions are asked for each subject.
• The question paper will consist of 3 sections:
  • PCM
  • PCA
  • PCB
  • ACB
• +4 marks will be provided for each correct response, and -1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer each.
• The questions will be asked in MCQ format in both English and Hindi languages
• Total Marks: 600 marks.

ICAR SRF Exam Pattern

• The exam will be conducted in online CBT mode in respective exam centres in India.
• Total time duration for the ICAR exam is 150 minutes
• Total marks: 480 marks
• The exam will have one question paper for each of the 20 major subject groups, consisting of 10 cross-matching questions.
• The marking scheme is similar to the ICAR JRF exam. +4 marks will be provided for each correct response, and -1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer each.

ICAR Exam Pattern 2023: Section-Wise Important Topics

There are three sections, as mentioned below:

Section A – General Knowledge/Reasoning Ability

A total of 50 MCQs will be asked from this section. It is the common section for all the 70 specialised subjects. This section tests the candidate’s awareness level related to the environment and its societal application. The questions are commonly asked from GK in the domain of Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Dairying, Allied Sciences, Fisheries etc.

Section B- Core group specialised subjects opted by the candidate for PhD.

50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from the core group of subjects (crop sciences, horticulture, veterinary and animal sciences, dairy science, dairy technology & food technology, agricultural engineering and technology, community science, fisheries science, natural resource management, agricultural economics & agri-business management, agricultural extension, and agricultural statistics) will be included in this section.

Section C – Specialized Subject opted by the candidate for PhD.

This section of the ICAR JRF exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from one of the specialised subjects that the applicants have studied in their Master’s degree and want to pursue a PhD in.
