# Hexagonal Pyramid Formula

A pyramid that has a hexagonal base, that is, base with six sides and 6 triangular lateral faces, then it is a hexagonal pyramid. It is also called as the Heptahedron.

**Question 1:**Find the base area, surface area and volume of a hexagonal pyramid of apothem length 4 cm, base length 7 cm, height 10 cm and slant height 15 cm ?

**Solution:**

Given,

a = 4 cm

b = 7 cm

h = 10 cm

s = 15 cm

Base area of a hexagonal pyramid

= 3ab

= 3 $\times$ 4 cm $\times$ 7 cm

= 84 cm

^{2}Surface area of a hexagonal pyramid

= 3ab + 3bs

= (3 $\times$ 4 cm $\times$ 7 cm) + (3 $\times$ 7 cm $\times$ 15 cm)

= 84 cm

^{2}+ 315 cm^{2}= 399 cm

^{2}Volume of a hexagonal pyramid

= abh
