The flammability of alcohols is explained in below points:

  1. Majority of the alcohols are flammable with flash points below 1000F. (lowest temperature at which the vapour of a substance can catch fire is called a flash point.)
  2. Due to wide flammability limits, methanol and ethanol are extremely dangerous to be placed in open environment.
  3. The volatile nature of alcohol credited to its flammable nature.
