Question

How do you take the cross product of a 3d vector ?

Open in App
Solution

Cross product of 3d vector :

The cross product of two vectors α and β is another vector given by:

α×β=αβ|sinθ|u

Where, θ is the angle between α and β

u is a unit vector perpendicular to the plane that contains α and β

The direction of u is given by the so called right-hand rule.

Hence, we can take the cross product of a 3d vector by the formula α×β=||α||||β|||sinθ|u
