Open in App
Solution

Writing interval notation:

Interval: The term “interval” means the range of numbers between the two given numbers.

The interval notation can be written in three different ways, such as:

Closed interval: It is describe as using square brackets “[]”. Here, both the end points are included. For example, [1,5] means greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 5.

Open interval: It is describe as using open brackets “()”. Here, both the ends are not included. For example, (1,5) means greater than 1 and less than 5.

Half-open interval: It is describe by “(]” or “[)”. Here, one end point is included. (1,5] means greater than 1 and less than or equal to 5. Similarly, [1,5) means greater than or equal to 1 and less than 5.

Hence, we can write interval notation by three different ways.
