Question

How does a DC voltmeter work?

Open in App
Solution

One such device that is frequently used on board and has numerous applications is a permanent magnet moving coil (PMMC). Galvanometer and D'alvanometer are two more names for this instrument that are frequently used.

DC Voltmeter:

A measuring tool called a DC voltmeter is used to determine the DC voltage between any two locations on an electric circuit. The Permanent Magnet Moving Coil (PMMC) galvanometer can function as a DC voltmeter if a resistor is connected in series with it.

Note: DC voltmeter is used in the measurement of DC voltage across any two points. DC voltmeter measures the peak value of the DC voltage. The DC voltmeter comprises an attenuator, and an amplifier followed by a PMMC meter.
