Question

How Much Ionization Energy Does Carbon Have?

Open in App
Solution

Ionization energy of Carbon:

  • As the distance between electron and nucleus increases, the removal of electrons becomes easy.
  • A Carbon atom has 6 valence electrons in its shell. All the electrons are at different distance from the nucleus. Thus, the six electrons require a different energy for their removal.

Therefore, Carbon have six different ionization energy.
