Phenols:

  • It is made up of two groups joined together, one hydroxyl and one phenyl.
  • Phenol is one of the most significant types of chemical compounds because of its applications.
  • It is also known as carbolic acid, and its isolation was first documented in the first few decades of the nineteenth century.
  • Due to their aromatic nature and the close coupling with the oxygen, they are having higher acidic nature.
  • They are also used as disinfectants in fact phenol is the first surgical antiseptic used.
