What are Polymers used for

Polymers are the raw materials that we now use every day for items, including: synthetic clothing, fibreglass, plastic bags, nylon bearings, polyethylene cups, epoxy resin, silicone heart valves, cookware covered with Teflon and our own preference polymer-based paints.

Polymers in plastic pipes and/or as pipe insulation components are also used for the oil and natural gas exploration and development industry. Biological macromolecules occur in four essential types: sugars, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Such polymers are composed of various monomers and serve various roles. Carbohydrates are compounds made up of monomers of sugar.
