Open in App
Solution

Radiation:

  • Radiation is the emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles via space or a material medium in physics.
  • Radiation is produced anytime energy is transferred.
  • To release radiation, a material does not have to be radioactive.
  • Not all element isotopes release radiation.
  • Light, heat, and alpha particles are all examples of radiation.

Examples of Radiations:

  1. Sunlight ultraviolet light heat from a stove burner visible light from a candle
  2. X-rays taken using an x-ray machine
  3. The radioactive decay of uranium produces alpha particles.
  4. Stereo's sound waves
  5. Microwaves produced by a microwave oven
  6. Your cell phone emits electromagnetic radiation.
  7. A black lamp emits ultraviolet light.
  8. Beta particle radiation from a strontium-90 sample
  9. A supernova's gamma radiation
  10. Microwave radiation emitted by your wifi router
  11. Radio frequencies
  12. Laser light
