Solution

Similarities between arithmetic and geometric sequences:

The only similarity between arithmetic and geometric sequence is they follow a pattern.

  • In an arithmetic sequence, the next term is obtained by adding or subtracting a common value from the previous term. The common value is called a common difference.

Example: 1,3,5,7,9,.... is an arithmetic sequence with a common difference of 2

  • In a geometric sequence, the next term is obtained by multiplying or dividing the previous term by the same value. The value is called a common ratio.

Example: 1,5,25,125,625,..... is a geometric sequence with a common ratio of 5
