Open in App
Solution

  1. The periodic table is the arrangement of different elements in a specific order based on the increasing atomic numbers of the elements.
  2. The first acceptable periodic table arrangement was given by Mendeleev. Using Mendeleev's periodic law, Henry Moseley put forth the Modern Periodic law for the modern Periodic Table.
  3. The modern law states that ‘ Properties of elements are the periodic function of their atomic number.’
  4. In simple words, it means that the properties shown by each element are a function of its atomic number or the number of electrons present in the element and the trends are periodic that is repetitive.
  5. The periodic table helps in identifying the elements based on their atomic number and vice-versa.
  6. It also helps in knowing the electronic configuration of different elements and thus is deducing its properties along the group and period.
  7. It helps in determining the periodic trends along with the period and group and thus arranges elements based on their increasing or decreasing trends in the properties.
  8. It is also helpful in knowing the nature of the elements.
