The balancing point in potentiometer is the point on the slide wire where the galvanometer shows zero deflection. The balance point is found to determine the unknown emf of the cell. In a potentiometer the balance point is obtained when the potential difference between the positive end to the jockey becomes equal to the emf experimental cell.
