Rayon is known as artificial silk. It has properties similar to silk. Often known as artificial silk is rayon fibre because it resembles all the silk properties. Artificial silk is called rayon because it looks like silk and feels like silk. The beginning of a rayon fabric is made of wood pulp.
Artificial silk or rayon is made in factories, processed at one time in bulk and requires less labour and expertise, while the silkworms produce original silk and it takes a lot of skill, effort and time to process the worms and remove silk from them. Artificial silk is therefore cheaper than natural silk.
