Solution

Inertia:

  1. Inertia can be defined as a property of matter by which it remains at the state of rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted upon by some external force.
  2. Inertia is a property of a body that resists changing its state of motion or state of rest.
  3. There are three types of inertia
3.1 Inertia of rest: When the resistance is offered by the body to continue in the state of rest unless an external force acts on it.
3.2 Inertia of direction: When the resistance is offered by the body to continue the motion in the same direction unless an external force acts on it.
3.3 Inertia of motion: When the resistance is offered by the body to continue to be in the uniform motion unless an external force acts on it.
