What is Ionization Equilibrium

Every mechanism by which electrically neutral atoms or molecules are converted into electrically charged atoms or molecules is ionised in chemistry and physics (ions). Ionization is one of the principal ways in which radiation converts its energy to matter, such as charged particles and X rays.

The degree of ionisation also known in literature as the yield of ionisation refers to the amount of neutral particles that are ionised into charged particles, such as those in a gas or aqueous solution. Completely ionised, however, can also mean that there are no electrons left for an ion.
