What is the bulk modulus of elasticity?

Bulk modulus is a measure of the resistance of solids or liquids to changes in their volume. If the force is applied normally and uniformly over the surface of the body and there is a change in the volume without any change in the shape then the strain is called the volume strain. It is measured by the change in volume per unit volume. Therefore,

Bulk modulus = Stress/volume strain
