Solution

Chemistry

  1. Chemistry is the branch of physical science, which deals with the study of the composition, structure, and properties of matter and the reaction by which one form of matter may be altered into other forms.
  2. During the last few decades, the field of chemistry has become wide and complex. For convenience and a better understanding of the subject, it has been divided into various branches.

The four main branches of chemistry are:

Physical Chemistry

  1. Physical Chemistry is the hardest branch of chemistry.
  2. It involves the study of physical properties and constitution of matter, the laws of chemical combination, and theories governing chemical reactions.
  3. The studies of the effect of temperature, pressure, light, concentration, etc., on reactions also come under the scope of physical chemistry.

Organic Chemistry

  1. Organic Chemistry involves the study of carbon compounds except for carbonates, cyanides, isocyanides, carbides, and oxides of carbon.
  2. It is actually the study of hydrocarbons and their derivatives.

Inorganic Chemistry

  1. Inorganic Chemistry involves the study of all the known elements and their compounds except organic compounds.
  2. It is concerned with the materials obtained from minerals, air, sea, and soil.

Analytical Chemistry

  1. Analytical Chemistry: deals with various methods of analysis of chemical substances both qualitative and quantitative.
  2. It includes chemical as well as physical methods of analysis.
