Solution

Amino acids:

  1. They are organic compounds with amino groups (-NH2) and carboxyl groups (-COOH).
  2. They are building blocks of proteins.
  3. Essentially, twenty amino acids are involved in constructing proteins.
  4. Example- lysine, arginine, etc.

Importance of amino acid sequence:

  1. The DNA sequence is transcribed into mRNA and then translated into an amino acid sequence.
  2. An amino acid sequence is known to provide essential biochemical information.
  3. For instance, the sequence of amino acids in a given protein can offer insights into the 3-D structure of the protein, its function, and evolution.
  4. The amino acid sequence of a faulty protein can also help us spot the mutation responsible for making it non-functional or defective.
