Question

What is the magnetic field inside the solenoid?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The induced magnetic field in a solenoid in comparison to the product of the number of turns per unit length and applied current.
  2. The magnetic field lines inside a solenoid will be straight and the field will be strong.
  3. The magnetic field will be weak outside the solenoid, and the field lines will curl up to form closed loops.
  4. The magnetic field inside a solenoid will be uniform.
  5. Mathematically it can be given as,

B=μ0NIL,

Where, B is the magnetic field, μ0 is permeability constant, N is the number of turns,I is the applied electric current, and L is the length of the solenoid.
