What are the Octet Rule Exceptions

Although the duet and octet laws are obeyed by most atoms, there are few variations. Elements such as boron or beryllium, for example, often form compounds in which less than eight electrons surround the central atom.

Chemical bonding is reflected in his celebrated octet law which states that until an atom has gained an octet of electrons, the eight electrons typical of the valence shell of a noble gas atom, electron transfer or electron sharing proceeds.
