What is the OR rule in probability?

In maths, OR is treated as a union of sets, whereas in probability OR means the occurrence of either of the events. Suppose A and B are the two events, then the occurrence of either or both events can be represented as:

P(A or B) = P(A ⋃ B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A ⋂ B)

This is called the OR rule in probability. Also, this is called the addition law of probability.
